A New Step in Poland’s Digitalization: Presentation of the SMART.PL Program at the Ministry of Digital Affairs
Yesterday, August 27, 2024, a significant meeting took place at the Ministry of Digital Affairs, gathering the joint working groups of IoT and GRAI, with Piotr Trusiewicz, a member of our management board, actively participating. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister Dariusz Standerski and attended by key technology industry representatives. The primary focus of the session was the presentation of the #SMART.PL program, which aims to maximize the potential of modern technologies in key sectors of social and economic life.
The #SMART.PL program is an ambitious initiative aimed at improving the quality of life for citizens by implementing modern technologies in areas such as healthcare, transportation, industry, agriculture, smart cities, and construction. The report, which will soon be submitted to the Ministry of Digital Affairs, highlights key elements related to the digitalization of the construction sector, such as the standardization of Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems and the requirement for their use in public investments. Another important proposal is the implementation of open standards such as Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) and Construction Classification International (CCI), which aim to unify the approach to digital construction projects.
The report also includes proposals for creating an educational program and investment support for implementing BIM and IoT in the construction sector. This document, the result of many months of work by a nearly 40-person team, marks a milestone in the digitalization of key sectors of the economy.
“The preparation and presentation of the #SMART.PL program is the result of the tremendous commitment of many people who dedicated their time and knowledge to create a coherent plan for the development of technology in Poland. It is a great success that our proposals will be included in Poland’s Digitalization Strategy, opening up new development opportunities for us,” commented Piotr Trusiewicz, a board member of BIM Ally, who actively participated in the work on the report.
The meeting at the Ministry of Digital Affairs concluded with a declaration that the #SMART.PL program will be included in the development of Poland’s Digitalization Strategy, which is a significant achievement for the team working on the report. This success demonstrates that cooperation between the public and private sectors can lead to innovative solutions that will impact improving the quality of life for citizens.
Special recognition is due to Borys Stokalski, the originator of the report and coordinator of the team’s work, and Ewa Świętochowska, whose determination and commitment motivated the team to act, thereby contributing to the success of the entire initiative. Thanks to their efforts, the #SMART.PL program will be considered in future activities related to Poland’s digitalization.
