BIM ALLY in partnership with GS1 Poland at the buildingSMART International Summit 2025

September 16, 2025

On 22–24 September 2025, our team will participate in the buildingSMART International Summit in Berlin – a global forum for knowledge exchange that each year brings together experts, manufacturers, designers, and leaders of digital transformation in the construction industry. This year’s edition focuses on open data standards and their practical application throughout the entire building lifecycle. As a partner of GS1, we have a unique opportunity to showcase how GS1 standards can be combined with the world of OpenBIM to ensure greater transparency, interoperability, and accessibility of product data in construction.

Our presentation

We invite all conference participants, both onsite and online, to join us on Tuesday, September 23 at 11:00 in the Ballroom for our session:
“Digital Product Passports: From BIM Data to Sustainable Design with IFC and GTIN.”

During the presentation, our representatives will explain how to use GTIN identifiers to enrich BIM models with product data and how the e-produkty database can serve as a repository of links to Digital Product Passports (DPPs). We will also provide a practical perspective on data exchange processes, showing how open standards such as IFC and bSDD enable better collaboration between designers, manufacturers, and investors. Finally, we will highlight how combining GS1 and OpenBIM creates a foundation for sustainable, digital construction, where data is consistent, accessible, and reusable.

Why does it matter?

Today’s construction sector faces the challenge of creating buildings that not only meet high standards of quality and efficiency but also address the requirements of sustainable development. A key factor here is product information – its reliability, accessibility, and ability to flow seamlessly between different tools.

By combining GS1 standards (such as GTIN) with open data formats like IFC and classification systems such as bSDD, it becomes possible to build an ecosystem where:

  • manufacturers retain control over their data,
  • designers and contractors gain fast access to up-to-date information,
  • investors can make informed decisions,
  • and at the end of the building lifecycle, data supports recycling and material reuse processes.

What else is on the agenda?

Throughout the three-day event, participants will discover numerous use cases from around the world, attend presentations from technology leaders, and join panel discussions on the future of open data in construction. It’s a chance to explore the latest trends, get inspired by real-world implementations, and connect with experts from different countries.
